8:49 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4th. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the nomination of LaShonda A. Hunt to be a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, post-cloture.

At 11:30 a.m., there will be two roll call votes:

  1. Confirmation of the Hunt nomination.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Colleen Joy Shogan to be Archivist of the United States.

At 1:45 p.m., there will be one roll call vote:

  1. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Geeta Rao Gupta to be Ambassador at Large for Global Women’s Issues.

If cloture is invoked on the Shogan and Gupta nominations, the confirmation votes are expected to occur at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Republican Leader.

8:32 p.m. By a vote of 54-42, the Senate invoked cloture on LaShonda A. Hunt to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

Republicans voting in favor: Senators Collins, Graham, Kennedy, McConnell, Murkowski, and Tillis.

Not voting: Senators Cramer, Feinstein, Shaheen, and Sanders.

8:00 p.m. The Senate began a cloture vote on the nomination of LaShonda A. Hunt to be a U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

7:59 p.m. The Senate confirmed the Hsu nomination, 53-43. Republicans in favor: Collins, Graham, Murkowski and Tillis. Not voting: Cramer, Feinstein, Hagerty, and Shaheen.

7:15 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on confirmation of the nomination of Wesley L. Hsu to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California.

7:14 p.m. By a vote of 50-48 with Senator Manchin joining all Republicans, the Senate passed S.J.Res.9, a joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service relating to “Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Lesser Prairie-Chicken; Threatened Status with Section 4(d) Rule for the Northern Distinct Population Segment and Endangered Status for the Southern Distinct Population Segment”. Senators not voting: Feinstein and Shaheen.

6:33 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on S.J.Res.9, a joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service relating to “Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Lesser Prairie-Chicken; Threatened Status with Section 4(d) Rule for the Northern Distinct Population Segment and Endangered Status for the Southern Distinct Population Segment”.

6:32 p.m. By a vote of 56-41, the Senate passed H.J. Res. 39, Scott (FL) Solar Tariff CRA. Democrats voting in favor: Senators Baldwin, Brown, Casey, Fetterman, Manchin, Peters, Stabenow, Tester, and Wyden. Senator Paul voted against.

6:33 p.m. The Senate began voting on S.J.Res.9, a joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service relating to “Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Lesser Prairie-Chicken; Threatened Status with Section 4(d) Rule for the Northern Distinct Population Segment and Endangered Status for the Southern Distinct Population Segment”.

12:17 p.m. By a vote of 51-48, the Senate confirmed Orelia Eleta Merchant to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York. Senator Graham voted in favor and Senator Feinstein did not vote.

11:28 a.m. The Senate is now voting on confirmation of Orelia Eleta Merchant to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am and will resume consideration of the nomination of Orelia Eleta Merchant, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York, post-cloture.
At approximately 11:30am, the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  • Confirmation of the nomination of Orelia Eleta Merchant, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York.
  • Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Wesley L. Hsu to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California.

Following the Hsu vote, the Senate will resume Legislative Session. The Committee on Environment and Public Works will be discharged from further consideration of S.J.Res.9, and the Senate will proceed to the en bloc consideration of H.J.Res.39, which was received from the House and S.J.Res.9.

At approximately 6:15pm, if cloture is invoked, the Senate will proceed to four roll call votes relative to the following:
