The Senate will convene at 10:00 a.m. and resume consideration of the nomination of Lee Cissna to be Director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

The Senate will recess for the weekly caucus luncheons from 12:30-2:15 p.m.

On Monday evening, Majority Leader McConnell filed cloture on the following four nominations:

  1. Lee Cissna to be Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
  2. Eric Hargan to be Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services.
  3. Randal Quarles to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
  4. Callista Gingrich to be Ambassador to the Holy See.

Unless an agreement is reached, Tuesday will be the intervening day on cloture and the first of the cloture motions – on the Cissna nomination – will ripen one hour after the Senate convenes on Wednesday, October 4th. The remaining cloture motions will ripen upon disposition of the previous nomination, in the order listed.
