7:15 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 11:00am on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of Executive Calendar #31, Stephen Miran, of New York, to be Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. At approximately 12:00 noon, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Miran nomination.If cloture is invoked, at approximately 2:15pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Miran nomination. Following disposition of the nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #34, Keith Sonderling, of Florida, to be Deputy Secretary of Labor. If cloture is invoked, at approximately 5:15pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Sonderling nomination.

During Tuesday’s session, Senator Thune filed cloture on the following:

1.      Executive Calendar #30 William Pulte, of Florida, to be Director of Federal Housing Finance Agency

2.      Executive Calendar #32 Jeffrey Kessler, of Virginia, to be Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security

5:30 p.m. The Senate is currently voting on confirmation of the nomination of Abigail Slater to be Assistant Attorney General. The nomination was confirmed by a vote of 78-19.

5:19 p.m. Senator Sanders spoke on Medicaid and Social Security. He then asked unanimous consent for the Senate to immediately consider S.939; Senator Crapo objected.

4:05 p.m. Senators Shaheen, Murkowski, Welch, Collins, Coons, McConnell, Bennet, and Tillis spoke on the war in Ukraine.

3:54 p.m. Senator Murray and Murkowski spoke on appropriations.

3:53 p.m. By a vote of 77 to 19, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Abigail Slater to be an Assistant Attorney General.
-Senators voting no: Blumenthal, Blunt Rochester, Fetterman, Gillibrand, Heinrich, Hirono, Lujan, Markey, Merkley, Murphy, Murray, Ossoff, Paul (R), Reed, Sanders, Schatz, Schumer, Van Hollen, Warner.

3:10 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Abigail Slater to be an Assistant Attorney General.

3:09 p.m. By a vote of 51 to 46, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Steven Bradbury to be Deputy Secretary of Transportation.

2:15 p.m. The Senate returned from recess and began a roll call vote on confirmation on the nomination of Steven Bradbury to be Deputy Secretary of Transportation.

12:52 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 2:15 p.m.

12:51 p.m. By a vote of 51-46, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Steven Bradbury to be Deputy Secretary of Transportation.
-Republican Senator Paul voted against .
-Senators Duckworth, Justice, and Slotkin did not vote.

11:51 a.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Steven Bradbury to be Deputy Secretary of Transportation.
