Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of Executive Calendar #41 P. Casey Pitts, of California, to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of California. At approximately 11:30am, the Senate will vote on the motions to invoke cloture on the Pitts nomination and on Executive Calendar #26 Dale E. Ho, of New York, to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York. If cloture is invoked on the nominations, at approximately 2:30pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Pitts and Ho nominations. At approximately 5:15pm, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #29 Nusrat Jahan Choudhury, of New York, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York.

In wrap up, the Senate passed the following legislation by unanimous consent:

Senator Schumer has filed cloture on the following nominations:

1.      Executive Calendar #41 P. Casey Pitts, of California, to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of California

6:45 p.m. By a vote of 50 – 49, the Senate confirmed Jared Bernstein to be Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. Senator Tuberville did not vote.

6:01 p.m. The Senate began a vote on confirmation of Jared Bernstein to be Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.

6:00 p.m. By a vote of 51-48, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Hernan Vera to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California. Senator Tuberville did not vote.

4:57 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on confirmation of the nomination Hernan D. Vera to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California.

4:49 p.m. Senator Brown spoke in support of the Bernstein nomination.

3:30 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 4:30 p.m.

3:01 p.m. Senator Schmitt gave his maiden speech.

2:59 p.m. Senator Hawley introduced Senator Schmitt for his maiden speech.

2:59 p.m. By a vote of 50-49, the Senate invoked cloture on Jared Bernstein to be Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. Senator Manchin voted no and Senator Tuberville did not vote.

2:15 p.m. The Senate is voting on the motion to invoke cloture on Jared Bernstein to be Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.

1:14 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 2:15 p.m.

1:13 p.m. By a vote of 51-48, the Senate invoked cloture on Hernan D. Vera to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California.

Senator Tuberville did not vote

12:22 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Hernan D. Vera to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California.

12:20 p.m. By a vote of 66-33, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Elizabeth Allen to be Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy. Republican senators voting in favor: Capito, Collins, Crapo, Graham, Grassley, Kennedy, McConnell, Moran, Murkowski, Ricketts, Risch, Romney, Rounds, Sullivan and Young. Senator Tillis did not vote.

11:27 a.m. The Senate began voting on confirmation of the nomination of Elizabeth Allen to be Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy.

10:52 a.m. Senator Thune spoke on the economy.

10:18 a.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke about inflation and the Transatlantic Alliance.

10:07 a.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke about AI and the House GOP tax plan.

10:02 a.m. Senator Cassidy spoke about todays visiting Pastor Reverend Asriel McLain from Louisiana.

10:00 a.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 10:00 a.m. and following any Leader remarks will resume consideration of the nomination of Elizabeth Allen to be Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Senate will proceed to two votes:
1. Confirmation of the Allen nomination.
2. Cloture on the nomination of Hernan Vera to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California.

Following the Vera vote, the Senate will recess until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus luncheons. 

At approximately 2:15 p.m., the Senate will proceed to a cloture vote on the nomination of Jared Bernstein to be Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.

The Senate will recess from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to allow for an All-Senators briefing. 

At approximately 5:00 p.m., if cloture in invoked, the Senate will proceed to two votes:
1. Confirmation of the Vera nomination.
2. Confirmation of the Bernstein nomination.
