At 5:30 p.m., the Senate will vote on confirmation of the en bloc nominations provided for under the provisions of S.Res.690.

2:36 p.m. Senator Cortez Masto spoke on National Police Week.

2:30 p.m. Senators Schatz and Hirono paid tribute to the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team who won the 2026 National Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Volleyball Championship. Senator Schatz achieved unanimous consent for the Senate to adopt S.Res.730, Congratulating the University of Hawaii Men’s Volleyball Team for Winning the 2026 National Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Volleyball Championship.

2:27 p.m. Senator Cramer wrapped up:

  • S.Res.680, A resolution commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Columbine Day of Service and honoring the memories of the victims, survivors, and their families; adopted by unanimous consent.
  • S.Res.706, A resolution expressing support for the designation of April 2026 as “National Child Abuse Prevention Month”, and the goals and ideals of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
  • Adopted en bloc by unanimous consent:
    • S.Res.733, Public Service Recognition Week
    • S.Res.734, Kids to Parks Day
    • S.Res.735, National Police Week
    • S.Res.736, Hospital Week

2:25 p.m. By a vote of 51-46, the Senate invoked cloture on the nominations provided for in S. Res. 690. This was a party-line vote with Senators Cassidy, Moran, and Slotkin not voting.

1:32 p.m. The Senate began voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the en bloc nominations provided for in S.Res.690, An executive resolution authorizing the en bloc consideration in Executive Session of certain nominations on the Executive Calendar.

1:22 p.m. Senator Ernst spoke about gas prices, ethanol, and Iran.

12:53 p.m. Senator Schmitt spoke about the Louisiana purchase and American history. He then received consent for the Senate to agree to S. Res. 729, Recognizing and honoring the achievement of Lewis and Clark.

12:02 p.m. Majority Leader Thune achieved adoption of S.Res.526, a resolution withholding the pay of Senators if a Government shutdown occurs, by voice vote.

Leader Thune then filed cloture on the following nominations:

  • Executive Calendar #735 Sheria Akins Clarke to be United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina.
  • Executive Calendar #737 Evan Rikhye to be Judge for the District Court of the Virgin Islands for a term of ten years.

11:53 a.m. Senator Padilla spoke on National Police Week and achieved unanimous consent for the Senate to pass S.4530, to authorize an increase in the retirement age for members of the Capitol Police.

11:49 a.m. Senator Kennedy spoke on his resolution, S.Res.526, A resolution withholding the pay of Senators if a Government shutdown occurs.

11:34 a.m. Senator Marshall spoke on moms.gov and the STOP Act.

11:19 a.m. Senator Young spoke on National Police Week.

11:12 a.m. Senator Welch spoke on sexual violence in the Middle East and the Leahy Law.

11:04 a.m. Senator Cornyn spoke on sharia law.

10:46 a.m. Senator Durbin spoke against the en bloc nominees and their confirmation process. He then spoke on January 6 and National Police Week.

10:37 a.m. Senator Barrasso spoke on energy and electric vehicles.

10:26 a.m. Minority Leader Schumer spoke on the cost of living. He then paid tribute to the victims of the Buffalo Tops shooting, which occurred four years ago today.

10:11 a.m. Majority Leader Thune spoke on National Police Week and law enforcement.
