2:41 p.m. By a vote of 41-52, the Senate did not adopt Risch amend #43 to S. 316, Repealing AUMF Against Iraq (to provide for a delayed, conditional repeal of the AUMF Against Iraq Resolution of 2002). Senator Rosen voted in favor. Republican senators voting against: Braun, Hawley, Lee, Paul, Schmitt, and Vance. Senators not voting: Cramer, Durbin, Feinstein, Fetterman, McConnell, Moran, and Sanders.

1:49 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on Risch amendment #43 to S. 316, Repealing AUMF Against Iraq (to provide for a delayed, conditional repeal of the AUMF Against Iraq Resolution of 2002).

1:48 p.m. Senator Kaine spoke on Risch amendment #43.

1:44 p.m. Senator Risch called up and spoke on his amendment #43 to S. 316.

1:15 p.m. By a vote of 32-63, the Senate did not agree to Rubio amend #4 to S. 316, Repealing AUMF Against Iraq. (Certification to Congress Iran is not supporting terrorist organizations in Iraq) with 60-vote affirmative threshold. Democratic senators voting in favor: Rosen and Sinema. Republican senators voting against: Braun, Budd, Cassidy, Collins, Daines, Hawley, Hyde-Smith, Lee, Lummis, Marshall, Moran, Murkowski, Paul, Schmitt, and Vance. 12:27 p.m. By a vote of 19-76, the Senate did not agree to the Lee amend #22, to S.316, Repealing AUMF Against Iraq (Implements 2yr sunset on future AUMFs).

11:30 a.m. The Senate began voting on the Lee amendment with a 60 vote threshold.

11:23 a.m. Senator Lee spoke on his amendment.

11:09 a.m. Senator Murphy spoke in favor of the Lee amendment to S.316.

10:58 a.m. Senator Cardin spoke in favor of S.316.

10:37 a.m. Senator Thune spoke about trade.

10:14 a.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on the repeal of the Iraq AUMF and MAGA supporters.

10:00 a.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of S.316, to repeal the authorizations for use of military force against Iraq.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Senate will vote on the Lee amendment #22 (2 year recertification).

Additional roll call votes are expected during Thursday’s session in relation to amendments or an Executive nomination.
