7:10 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

5:31 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Vernon D. Oliver to be United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut. Final talley 54-40.

5:23 p.m. Senator Blumenthal spoke in support of the Oliver nomination.

4:56 p.m. Senator Blackburn spoke on the 76th anniversary of the United States Air Force and data privacy.

4:19 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about the appropriations process.

4:06 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke about the appropriations process and Russia.

4:03 p.m. Senator Murray moved to suspend Rule 16 for the consideration of amendment #1092 to H.R. 4366, the vehicle for MilCon, VA, Agriculture, and THUD appropriations. and then filed cloture on the motion to suspend the rules. Then, Majority Leader Schumer made a motion to commit H. R. 4366 to the Appropriations Committee with instructions to report back forthwith with an amendment #1230. Finally, Senator Murray spoke on the bill.

4:01 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on appropriations and then withdrew the motion to commit to H.R. 4366 to the appropriations committee.

3:47 p.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke about Iran and the southern border.

3:27 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke about the appropriations process and the UAW strike.

3:00 p.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and following any leader remarks will resume consideration of H.R.4366, the vehicle for MilCon VA, Agriculture, and THUD appropriations. 

At 5:00 p.m. the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to resume consideration of Executive Calendar #265 Vernon Oliver to be United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut.  At approximately 5:30 p.m. the Senate will vote on cloture on the Oliver nomination.
