6:43 p.m. ML Schumer spoke briefly on Sweden joining NATO.

6:33 p.m. By a vote of 79-8, The Senate invoked cloture on Xochitl Torres Small to be Deputy Secretary of Agriculture.

Voting against: Senators Blackburn, Hawley, Johnson, Paul, Rubio, Schmitt, Scott (FL) and Vance.

Not voting: Senators Barrasso, Durbin, King, Manchin, Murkowski, Ricketts, Risch, Romney, Schatz, Scott (SC), Shaheen, Sullivan and Tillis.

5:35 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on Xochitl Torres Small to be Deputy Secretary of Agriculture.

5:27 p.m. ML Schumer filed cloture on the following nominations:

  • Executive Calendar #34 Myong J. Joun to be United States District Judge for the District of Massachusetts.
  • Executive Calendar #114 Kalpana Kotagal to be a Member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for a term expiring July 1, 2027.
  • Executive Calendar #141 David M. Uhlmann to be an Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Executive Calendar #21 Rachel Bloomekatz to be United States Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

5:12 p.m. Senator Blackburn spoke on immigration.

5:04 p.m. Senator Moran spoke on declining national test scores.

4:47 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke on immigration, on the NDAA, and pending legislation.

4:25 p.m. Senator Reed spoke on General and flag officer nominations. Senator Reed asked unanimous consent to call up the nomination of General Eric M. Smith to be Commandant of the Marine Corps. Senator Tuberville objected.

3:36 p.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke about Chemical Weapons and SCOTUS.

3:32 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer placed S. 2178 on the calendar under Rule 14

3:20 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke about the flooding in New York, infrastructure, the upcoming Senate work period and federal judges.

3:00 p.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and following any Leader remarks, will resume consideration of the nomination of Xochitl Torres Small to be Deputy Secretary of Agriculture.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the Senate will vote on cloture on the Torres Small nomination.
