8:00 p.m. The Senate has adjourned until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28th and will resume post-cloture debate time of the Zinke nomination.

  • S. Res. 69, Celebrating Black History Month, was agreed to by unanimous consent.
  • The Presiding Officer of the Senate received unanimous consent to appoint a committee on the part of the Senate to join with a like committee on the part of the House to escort the President into the House chamber for the joint session on Tuesday evening.

7:59 p.m. Senator Daines spoke in favor of the Zinke nomination.

7:50 p.m. The Senate invoked cloture on the motion to invoke cloture on the Zinke nomination by a vote of 67 to 31.

7:34 p.m. The Senate began voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Ryan Zinke to be Secretary of the Interior.

7:31 p.m. The Senate confirmed Wilbur L. Ross as Secretary of Commerce by a vote of 72-27. The Senate tabled the motion to reconsider the Ross nomination by voice vote.

7:00 p.m. The Senate began the vote on the Wilbur L. Ross nomination to be Secretary of Commerce.

6:56 p.m. Senator Schumer spoke about the Ross nomination.

The Senate will convene at 12:00 noon.  At that time, following any Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session.  At 3:00 p.m., Senator Sasse will be recognized to deliver Washington’s Farewell Address.

At 7:00 pm, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on confirmation on the nomination of Wilbur Ross to be Secretary of Commerce. Following the disposition of the Ross nomination, the Senate will proceed to a cloture vote on the nomination of Ryan Zinke to be Secretary of the Interior.
