10:11 p.m. The Senate convened, and HR 3746 had its second reading and the bill was placed on the calendar.

10:10 p.m. The Senate adjourned until 10:11 p.m.

10:09 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer wrapped up for the evening. HR 3746, the debt ceiling bill had its first reading.

7:36 p.m. The Senate began a quorum call.

7:20 p.m. Senators Warren and Lee continued to debate.

7:05 p.m. Senator Warren responded and asked UC to confirm more nominations; Senator Tuberville objected.

6:55 p.m Senator Marshall joined the debate on the defense department nominations and abortion funding.

6:30 p.m. Senator Lee spoke on the defense department and abortion funding. Senators Reed and Warren responded.

3:19 p.m. By a vote of 51-46, the Senate agreed to the the motion to proceed to H.J.Res. 45.

Democrats voting in favor: Senators Minchin, Tester, and Sinema voted AYE.

Not voting: Senators Bennet, Tillis, and Warner.

2:32 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to proceed to H.J.Res.45, providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to “Waivers and Modifications of Federal Student Loans”.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume Executive Session. The Senate will recess from 12:30pm until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus luncheons.

At 2:30 p.m. The Senate will vote on motion to proceed to H.J.Res.45, providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to “Waivers and Modifications of Federal Student Loans”.


If the motion to proceed is agreed to, the vote on passage of the joint resolution will be at a time TBD on Thursday, June 1st.
