6:56 p.m. Senator Perdue asked u.c. that the Senate adjourns until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Following Leader remarks the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to resume consideration of the Hagerty nomination and all post-cloture debate will expire at 1:45 p.m. and the Senate will proceed to a vote on confirmation of the nomination.

6:25 p.m. Senator McCain spoke about legislative gridlock.

6:00 p.m. Senator Cruz spoke about Dr. Liu Xiaobo.

5:36 p.m. Senator Whitehouse spoke on climate change.

5:21 p.m. Senator Reed spoke on health care.

4:43 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about health care.

4:29 p.m. Senator Wyden spoke about net neutrality.

4:20 p.m. Senator Blumenthal spoke about net neutrality.

4:05 p.m. Senator Markey spoke about net neutrality.

3:50 p.m.  Senator Cantwell and Senator Schatz spoke about net neutrality.

2:30 p.m. Senator Hatch spoke on tax reform.

2:10 p.m. Senator Merkley spoke on campaign finance reform and health care.

1:34 p.m. Senator Murphy spoke about health care and cuts to Medicare.

1:32 p.m. Senator Barrasso spoke about health care.

1:22 p.m. Cloture was invoked on the Hagerty nomination by a vote of 89 to 11. The post-cloture debate time is being counted as if it was invoked at 1:00 a.m., which would expire at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, July 13th.

  • 10 Democrats voted no: Senators Booker, Gillibrand, Harris, Heinrich, Hirono, Merkley, Peters, Stabenow, Udall, and Warren.
  • 1 Independent voted no: Senator Sanders

1:03 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of William Francis Hagerty IV to be Ambassador to Japan.

1:02 p.m. The nomination of David C. Nye to be U.S. District Judge of Idaho was confirmed by a vote of 100 to 0.

12:30 p.m. The confirmation vote began on the Nye nomination.

12:10 p.m. Minority Leader Schumer spoke about health care.

12:03 p.m. Majority Leader McConnell spoke about health care and about the pace of Senate action on nominations.

The Senate will convene at noon.

After leader remarks, the Senate will conclude consideration of the nomination of David C. Nye to the U.S. District Court for Idaho.

Two votes will ensue at about 12:30 p.m.:

— Confirmation of the Nye nomination;

— Cloture on the nomination of William F. Hagerty IV of Tennessee to be ambassador to Japan. If cloture is invoked on the Hagerty nomination, post-cloture time would expire at 7 a.m. Thursday.
