7:10 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25th. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to resume consideration of the nomination of Gretchen S. Lund to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Indiana.

At 11:30 a.m. – two votes:

  1. Confirmation of the Lund nomination.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Kirk Edward Sherriff to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of California (if cloture is invoked, a vote on confirmation would occur at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Republican Leader).

At 1:45 p.m. – one vote:

  1. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Joshua Paul Kolar to be United States Circuit Judge for the Seventh Circuit.

During wrap up:

  • The traditional reading of Washington’s Farewell Address will take place on Monday, February 26, 2024 with Senator Cardin appointed to read Washington’s Farewell Address; agreed to by unanimous consent.

4:11 p.m. By a vote of 67-32, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Cristal Brisco to be U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Indiana.

Not voting: Senator Barrasso.

2:59 p.m. The Senate is voting on confirmation of Cristal C. Brisco to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Indiana.

2:58 p.m. By a vote of 80-17, the Senate confirmed Jacquelyn Austin to be United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina.

Not voting: Senators Barrasso, Kelly, and Sanders.

1:58 p.m. The Senate began voting on confirmation of the nomination of Jacquelyn Austin to be United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina.

1:57 p.m. Senator Durbin achieved UC that cloture on the Lund nomination be vitiated and the confirmation vote occur on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

1:31 p.m. Senators Capito, Ricketts and Schmitt spoke on immigration and the record of the Biden administration.

1:16 p.m. The Senate invoked cloture on the Brisco nomination, 68-29. Senators not voting: Barrasso, Kelly and Scott of South Carolina.

12:26 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Cristal C. Brisco to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Indiana.

12:25 p.m. By a vote of 79-17, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Jacquelyn D. Austin to be US District Judge for the District of South Carolina.
