6:47 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until Wednesday September 6th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Following Leader Remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the Jefferson Nomination, post cloture.

At 11:30 a.m. the Senate will hold 2 roll call votes

  1. Confirmation of Philip Jefferson, to be Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Gwynne Wilcox to be a Member of the National Labor Relations Board.

Following the Wilcox vote, the Senate will recess until 2:15 p.m. to allow for the weekly caucus lunches.

At 2:15 p.m. the Senate will hold 2 roll call votes (If cloture is invoked)

  1. Confirmation of Gwynne Wilcox to be a Member of the National Labor Relations Board.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on Lisa Cook to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

At 5:15 p.m. the Senate will hold 2 roll call votes

  1. Confirmation of Lisa Cook to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on Adriana Kugler to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

6:28 p.m. The Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Philip Jefferson, to be Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, 83-10.

Voting against: Braun, Hawley, Lankford, Lee, Lummis, Paul, Schmitt, Scott (FL), Sullivan & Tuberville.

5:30 p.m. The Senate is currently voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the Jefferson nomination.

5:10 p.m. Senator Brown spoke on labor unions.

4:45 p.m. Senator Cassidy spoke on labor unions and medicines to be covered by Medicare.

4:38 p.m. Senator Blackburn spoke about fentanyl.

4:21 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about Crime, Semi-conductors and the budget.

3:30 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke on the August home state work period, health care and student loans.

3:23 p.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke on the August home state work period and government funding.

3:07 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on the August home state work period, the economy and jobs, government funding, artificial intelligence and the Senate agenda.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and following any Leader remarks, will resume consideration of the nomination of Philip Jefferson to be Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Jefferson nomination.
