7:38 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. On Wednesday, following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Cal. #211, H.R.3935, an act to amend title 49, United States Code, to reauthorize and improve the Federal Aviation Administration and other civil aviation programs.

The Senate will recess from 1:00 pm until 2:15 pm to allow for weekly caucus meetings.

7:21 p.m. Senator Sanders responded to Senator Scott (SC) and asked unanimous consent to call up his resolution at the desk. Senator Scott (SC) objected.

6:48 p.m. Senators Scott (SC), Ernst and Hoeven spoke against rising antisemitism on college campuses. Senator Scott (SC) asked unanimous consent to call up S.Res. 670, A resolution strongly condemning the rise of antisemitism on campuses of institutions of higher education across the United States. Senator Sanders objected.

6:41 p.m. ML Schumer filled the tree and filed cloture on the Cantwell-Cruz substitute amendment #1911, as modified, to H.R.3935, FAA Reauthorization as well as on the underlying bill H.R.3935, FAA Reauthorization.

6:35 p.m. By a vote of 52-40, the Senate confirmed Donna Ann Welton to be Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

  • Senators Barrasso, Braun, Cotton, Lankford, Paul, Rubio, Sinema, and Tuberville did not vote

5:33 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on confirmation of the nomination of Donna Welton to be Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

4:44 p.m. Senators Cardin and Van Hollen spoke on the Baltimore bridge accident.

4:13 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke about Holocaust Remembrance Day, immigration and Social Security.

3:02 p.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke about Holocaust Remembrance Day, antisemitism and student debt forgiveness.

3:00 p.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and following any Leader remarks will resume consideration of the nomination of Donna Welton to be Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

At 5:30 p.m. the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Welton nomination.
