5:42 p.m. Senator Wicker spoke about S. 1822, the Broadband Data Act and u.c. to call up and pass the bill. The bill was passed without objection with an amendment.

5:40 p.m. The Senate agreed to, 55-41 the motion to proceed to S.J.Res.56, Borrower Defense CRA.

5:10 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to proceed to
S.J.Res.56/H.J.Res.76, Borrower Defense CRA.

5:00 p.m. The Senate reconvened. Senator Durbin spoke about the Borrower Defense CRA.

4:02 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 5:00 p.m.

4:01 p.m. ML McConnell filed cloture on Executive Calendar #587 James P. Danly to be a Member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for the remainder of the term expiring June 30, 2023.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. today, the Senate is expected to proceed to a vote on the motion to proceed to S.J.Res.56/H.J.Res.76, Borrower Defense CRA.

3:56 p.m. Senator McSally spoke about the sacrifices of the firefighters killed fighting bush fires in Australia.

3:21 p.m. Senator Tester paid tribute to 3 firefighters who died fighting a bush fire in Australia.

2:10 p.m. The Senate returned from the recess. Senators Udall, Cardin, Whitehouse, Durbin, Klobuchar, Bennet, Hirono and Merkley spoke on H.R. 1; regarding voting rights and money in politics.

12:32 p.m. The Senate recessed to accommodate the weekly caucus luncheons.

12:26 p.m. Senator Alexander spoke on student loans.

12:00 p.m. Senator Murray spoke on student loans.

11:18 a.m. Senator Cornyn also spoke on student loans.

10:53 a.m. Senator Durbin spoke on the Borrower Defense Program.

10:46 a.m. Senator Thune spoke about 5G technology.

10:34 a.m. DL Schumer spoke about the Energy bill and on the Coronavirus.

10:17 a.m. ML McConnell continued the Rule 14 process on S. 3422, to amend title 54, United States Code, to establish, fund, and provide for the use of amounts in a National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund to address the maintenance backlog of the National Park Service, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the BLM, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Indian Education, and to provide permanent, dedicated funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The bill was read for a second time.

10:09 a.m. ML McConnell spoke about the Coronavirus and the need for all Americans to take basic, commonsense actions to prevent its spread. ML McConnell spoke on the Energy bill and looks forward to its passage. ML McConnell also spoke about election security.

10:02 a.m. Senator Grassley spoke about Iowa history month.
