6:28 p.m.  Senate adjourned and will reconvene at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. The next roll call vote is expected at 11:00 a.m. on the Axon nomination to be U.S. District Judge, Northern District, Alabama.

3:14 p.m. Cloture was invoked on the Axon nomination, 84-11.

  • Senators Gillibrand, Harris, Hirono, Markey, Menendez, Merkley, Peters, Sanders, Stabenow, Warren, and Wyden voted no.
  • Senators not voting: Coons (D), Duckworth (D), Heinrich (D), Isakson (R), and McCain (R)

2:36 p.m. Roll call vote began on cloture on the nomination of Annemarie Axon to be a District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.

2:35 p.m. The Rodriguez nomination was confirmed 96-0.
Senators not voting: Coons, Duckworth, Heinrich and McCain.

2:15 p.m. The Senate returned from recess and began voting on confirmation of the Rodriguez nomination.

12:42 p.m. The Senate stands in recess to accommodate the weekly caucus lunches.

12:42 p.m. ML McConnell asked u.c. that all post-cloture time be expired on the Rodriguez nomination the Senate will have 2 votes at 2:15 p.m. 1. Confirmation of Cal. #587 Rodriguez to be U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Texas 2. Motion to invoke cloture on Cal. #625 Axon to be U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.

12:07 p.m. Senator Hyde-Smith gave her first speech in the Senate.

12:06 p.m. The Senate invoked cloture on the Rodriguez nomination by a vote of 94-1. Senator Hirono voted no.

11:36 a.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the Rodriguez nomination.

11:35 a.m. The Wier nomination was confirmed by a vote of 95 to 0.

11:00 a.m. The Senate is now voting on confirmation of the Wier nomination.

10:33 a.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about the economy.

10:25 a.m. Minority Leader Schumer spoke about presidential powers and about Senate confirmation procedure. He spoke about the economy.

10:03 a.m. ML McConnnell spoke about the Wier and Rodriguez nominations and NDAA. He spoke about the economy.

The Senate will convene at 10 a.m. and will resume post-cloture consideration of the nomination of Robert Wier to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

At 11 a.m., the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Wier nomination.

Following disposition of the Wier nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Fernando Rodriguez, Jr., to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

The Senate will recess for policy lunches from 12:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m.
