6:54 p.m. ML McConnell wraps up for the evening.  Passed by UC: S. Res 393, regarding committee assignments for Democrats; S. Res 394, regarding National Mentoring Month.  UC that Senate adjourn until 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday and resume consideration of the House message to accompany H.R. 695.

5:37 p.m. Senators Whitehouse, Cardin, Nelson, Shaheen, Murray, Hirono, Wyden and Blumenthal engaged in a colloquy on the Russia investigation.

5:28 p.m. Senator Fischer spoke about government funding.

4:37 p.m. Senators King, Nelson, Menendez, Whitehouse, Merkley, Markey, and Murray spoke about off-shore drilling.

4:35 p.m. Senator Nelson spoke about SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket launch.

4:20 p.m. Senators Carper and Wyden spoke about off-shore drilling.

4:00 p.m. Senator Cantwell spoke about off-shore drilling.

3:33 p.m. Senator Thune spoke about tax reform.

3:00 p.m. Senator Flake is currently speaking on remarks made by President Trump.

12:29 p.m. The Senate recessed until 2:15 p.m. in order to hold weekly policy lunches.

12:21 p.m. Senator Coons spoke about offshore oil drilling.

11:50 a.m. ML McConnell calls up, files cloture, and fills tree on motion to concur to HR 695, defense appropriations.

11:35 a.m. Senator Rounds responds to, and endorses Manchin comments.  He then turns to discuss the Defense Appropriations bill.

11:23 a.m. Senator Manchin spoke on civility and trust in Washington; signs pledge not to campaign against colleagues and asks them to do so as well.

10:56 a.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about government funding and immigration.

10:22 a.m. Senator Durbin spoke about immigration.

10:21 a.m. Senator Schumer spoke about tax reform, government funding, and the Mueller investigation.

10:20 a.m. Under the provisions of rule 14 the following tax bills were read for a second time and placed on the calendar, H.R. 1551, advanced nuclear power facilities; H.R. 2372, VETERAN Act; and H.R. 2579, Broader Options for Americans Act.

10:13 a.m. Majority Leader McConnell spoke about government funding and defense appropriations. The Majority Leader also spoke about tax reform.

10:00 a.m. The Senate convened and proceed to a period of morning business.
