6:58 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer wrapped up for the evening. Passed by UC, except where noted: S Res 61, regarding National Speech and Debate Education Day; S Res 62, regarding Little Sisters of the Poor of Indianapolis on its 150th anniversary; S Res 63, regarding Black History Month was passed by Voice Vote; S Res 64, authorizing US V Goss Jankowski. S 424, “protecting seniors” had its first reading.

6:49 p.m. Senator Wyden spoke in favor of the Nelson nomination.

6:39 p.m. Senator Brown paid tribute to his outgoing Communications Director Trudy Perkins.

6:21 p.m. Senator Young spoke on Abraham Lincoln and his connections to Indiana upon the 214th anniversary of his birth.

6:20 p.m. Senator Tillis professed his love for his wife for Valentine’s day.

6:02 p.m. Senator Whitehouse spoke on the Supreme Court and campaign finance reform.

6:01 p.m. Cloture was invoked on the Nelson nomination, 53-44. Republicans in favor: Collins, Graham and Murkowski. Senator Casey did not vote.

5:14 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on Adrienne C. Nelson to be United States District Judge for the District of Oregon.

5:14 p.m. By a vote of 53-46, the #Senate confirmed Matthew L. Garcia to be United States District Judge for the District of New Mexico.

4:28 p.m. The Senate began a roll vote on confirmation of the Garcia nomination.

4:21 p.m. Senator Scott of Florida spoke on and passed S Res 60 regarding the 5 year anniversary of the Parkland shooting.

4:08 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke on the shooting in Michigan and mass shootings in general; and later on corporate bankruptcies.

3:44 p.m. Senator Merkley achieved UC to vote on confirmation of the Garcia nomination at 4:30 p.m. He then proceeded to pay tribute to a departing staffer.

3:43 p.m. Cloture was invoked on the Garcia nomination, 54-45. Republicans voting in favor: Collins, Cornyn, Graham, and Murkowski. Senator Casey did not vote.

2:57 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on Matthew L. Garcia to be United States District Judge for the District of New Mexico.

2:56 p.m. By a vote of 59-40, The Senate confirmed Lindsay Jenkins to be US District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

2:15 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the confirmation of Lindsay C. Jenkins to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

1:25 p.m. By a vote of 58-41, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Lindsay Jenkins to be US District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

11:35 a.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on confirmation of Gina R. Mendez-Miro to be United States District Judge for the District of Puerto Rico

11:29 a.m. RL McConnell spoke against Gigi Sohn nomination to the FCC.

11:15 a.m. ML Schumer spoke about the shooting at Michigan State, the all Senators briefing and Judicial nominations.

The Senate will convene at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14 and following Leader remarks, will resume consideration of the nomination of Gina R. Mendez-Miro to be United States District Judge for the District of Puerto Rico, post-cloture.

At 11:30 a.m., the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes:

  1. Confirmation of the Mendez-Miro nomination.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Lindsay C. Jenkins to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

Following the cloture vote on the Jenkins nomination, the Senate will recess until 2:15 p.m. for weekly caucus lunches.

At 2:15 p.m. the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes:

  1. Confirmation of the Jenkins nomination (if cloture is invoked).
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Matthew L. Garcia to be United States District Judge for the District of New Mexico.
