5:50 p.m. The Senate is currently voting in H.R. 5305, the continuing resolution. The vote was not agreed to by a vote of 48-50.

5:30 p.m. Leader McConnell spoke of the reason republicans are not passing H.R. 5305, the CR and they would offer a clean CR. He offered an amendment to H.R. 5305 and Leahy objected.

5:25 p.m.  Senator Leahy spoke on programs that would be negatively affected by a government shutdown.

5:15 p.m. Senator Shelby spoke about the debt limit.

4:57 p.m. Senator Tuberville spoke on the Biden administration.

4:40 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke on Afghanistan.

4:22 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke on the debt limit and on immigration.

4:07 p.m. Senator Blackburn spoke on the Infrastructure plan.

3:59 p.m. Senator Moran spoke on Haitian migrants.

3:39 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke on January 6th, the electoral college, and on the debt limit.

3:30 p.m. Leader McConnell spoke on the democratic continuing resolution and pronounced it dead on arrival. He added Republicans are will to pass a non partisan continuing resolution today.

3:20 p.m. The Senate resumed consideration of H.R. 5305, the continuing resolution.

3:05 p.m. Leader Schumer spoke on the schedule and the need to pass the continuing resolution and debt ceiling.

3:00 p.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and resume consideration of H.R. 5305, the continuing resolution.

At 5:30 p.m. the Senate will proceed to a vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed.
