4:47 p.m. The Senate adjourned and will meet for pro forma sessions with no business conducted on the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday, October 6th at 11:30 a.m.
  • Friday, October 9th at 10:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, October 13th at 8:45 a.m.
  • Friday, October 16th at 4:30 p.m.

When the Senate adjourns on Friday, October 16th, it will next convene at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #866, Michael Jay Newman, of Ohio, to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Ohio.

4:46 p.m. Senator Kaine asked ML McConnell to modify his pro forma u.c. so that in lieu of reconvening on Monday, October 19th there be additional pro forma sessions on October 20, 23, 27, 30th and on November 3rd. ML McConnell objected to Senator Kaine’s request.

4:45 p.m. ML McConnell asked u.c. that when the Senate adjourns today it meet in pro forma sessions on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, October 6 at 11:30 a.m.
  • Friday, October 9 at 10:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, October 13 at 8:45 a.m.
  • Friday, October 16 at 4:30 p.m.

4:44 p.m. ML McConnell asked u.c. that the cloture motions filed on Wednesday, September 30th be withdrawn. Agreed to by unanimous consent.

ML McConnell asked u.c. that notwithstanding the provisions of the Congressional Review Act, H.J. Res 90, Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency relating to “Community Reinvestment Act Regulations”. remain in status quo through October 19, 2020.

4:40 p.m. Senator Kaine spoke wishing the President and First Lady a full recovery. Senator Kaine spoke about the need for additional Coronavirus funding.

4:32 p.m. ML McConnell spoke about his intent to postpone floor activity until October 19th and on the Judiciary committee hearings.

The Senate will convene at 4:30 p.m. Majority Leader McConnell is expected to ask unanimous consent for the Senate to meet in pro forma sessions until Monday, October 19, with floor activity postponed until then.
