7:01 p.m. Senator Smith began wrap up:

  • Began Rule XIV process on, S. 3168, A bill making emergency supplemental appropriations for assistance for the situation in Israel for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2024, and for other purposes.
  • Passed by unanimous consent: S. 1146, A bill to amend part E of title IV of the Social Security Act to require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to identify obstacles to identifying and responding to reports of children missing from foster care and other vulnerable foster youth, to provide technical assistance relating to the removal of such obstacles, and for other purposes.

7:00 p.m. By a vote of 54-40, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Matthew Maddox to be U.S. District Judge for the District of Maryland.

5:26 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on Matthew Maddox to be U.S. District Judge for the District of Maryland.

5:18 p.m. Senator Cardin spoke in support of the Maddox nomination.

4:58 p.m. Senator Blackburn spoke about National Country Music Month and on music artists.

4:35 p.m. Senator Cassidy spoke on Speaker Mike Johnson.

4:14 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about the southern border.

4:04 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke about AI, aid for Israel/Ukraine, humanitarian aid for Gaza, Anti-Semitism and UAW.
