6:43 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Following Leaders remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the nomination of Robert Ballou, post-cloture.

6:41 p.m. ML Schumer began wrap up. H.R. 347 was read for the second time and placed on the calendar under the provisions of Rule XIV.

6:36 p.m. By a vote of 59-35, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Robert Ballou to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Virginia.

Not voting: Senators Barrasso, Feinstein, Fetterman, Risch, Sanders and Sullivan.

5:30 p.m. The Senate began a vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Robert Stewart Ballou to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Virginia.

5:19 p.m. Senators Kaine and Warner spoke supporting the Ballou nomination.

5:01 p.m. Senator Blackburn spoke about Attorney General Garland.

4:42 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke on immigration.

4:10 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on President Biden’s budget, taxes, rail safety, the Werfel nomination, and the FCC Spectrum Auction Authority.

4:08 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer filed cloture on Executive Calendar #61 Daniel I. Werfel to be Commissioner of Internal Revenue for the term expiring November 12, 2027.

3:55 p.m. Senator Tuberville spoke about Title IX.

3:30 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke about Iran, paid tribute to fallen Chicago Police Officer Andres Vasquez-Lasso, insulin costs, and the March on Selma.

3:18 p.m. RL McConnell spoke about the storms in Kentucky and Iran.

3:00 p.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and resume consideration of the nomination of Robert Ballou to be a District Judge for the Western District of Virginia.

At 5:30 p.m., the Senate will vote on cloture on the Ballou nomination.

Cloture has also been filed on the following nominations:
1. Andrew Schopler to be a District Judge for the Southern District of California.
2. Arun Subramanian to be a District Judge for the Southern District of New York.
3. Patrice Kunesh to be Commissioner of the Administration for Native Americans, Department of Health and Human Services.

At a time to be determined the Senate will vote on confirmation of the following nominations:
1. Gordon Gallagher to be a District Judge for the District of Colorado.
2. James Simmons to be a District Judge for the Southern District of California.
