12:52 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned pursuant to S.Res. 258, expressing the sense of the Senate regarding the life and work of Senator John W. Warner. The Senate meets at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1st for a pro forma session. The Senate will then meet on Thursday, June 3rd at 11:00 a.m. for a pro forma session.

The Senate returns for legislative business on Monday, June 7th, 2021 at 3:00 PM. At 5:30 PM, the Senate will proceed to a vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #130 Julien Xavier Neals to be U.S. District Judge for the District of NJ.

12:14 p.m. By a vote of 54-35 the Senate did not invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R.3233, January 6th Commission (60 vote affirmative threshold).

Senators Cassidy, Collins, Murkowski, Portman, Romney, & Sasse joined Dems and voted YES.

11:24 a.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to Cal. #60, H.R.3233, January 6th Commission. (60 vote affirmative threshold).

11:14 a.m. ML Schumer asked. u.c. that at a time to be determined on Tuesday, June 8th, the Senate will resume consideration of S. 1260, Endless Frontier Act, that all post-cloture time be considered expired. The Senate would then vote in relation to the following,

  • the Cornyn #1858 amendment to modify the semiconductor incentives program of the Department of Commerce.
  • if a Budget Act point of order is raised, the Senate will likely proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to waive
  • If the motion to waive is agreed to, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the Schumer amendment in the nature of a substitute #1502, as amended.
  • The cloture motion with respect to the bill will be withdrawn, and the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on passage of S.1260, as amended, with 60-affirmative votes required for passage.

10:39 a.m. Senator Lee spoke about his concerns regarding the Endless Frontier legislation.

10:31 a.m. Senator Paul spoke about spending by the National Science Foundation.

9:50 a.m. Senator Tuberville spoke on China.

9:16 a.m. Senator Paul spoke on the connection between cocaine and the risky sex habits of quail and other government research expenditures.

9:00 a.m. The Senate has reconvened and began a live quorum.

The Senate will reconvene at 9:00 a.m. and immediately proceed to a Live Quorum. At that time, Senators will assemble on the Senate Floor for a roll call vote on the Motion to Instruct the Sergeant at Arms to request the presence of any absent Senators. 

The Senate is expected to resume consideration of S.1260, the Endless Frontier Act.  During yesterday’s session, the Senate voted to invoke cloture on Schumer substitute amendment #1502 to S.1260. 

Cloture has been filed on the following in the following order:

  1. S.1260, the Endless Frontier Act.
  2. Motion to proceed to H.R.3233, January 6th Commission.
  3. The nomination of Anton Hajjar to be a Governor of the United States Postal Service.
