  • Daniel Zimmerman to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.
  • Paul Dabbar, of New York, to be Deputy Secretary of Commerce.
  • Kenneth Kies, of Virginia, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury.

2:18 p.m. By a vote of 51-46, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Rodney Scott to be Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security, party line.

  • Senators not voting: Hyde-Smith, Ossoff, and Tuberville.

1:45 p.m. The Senate began voting on confirmation of Rodney Scott to be Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security.

1:33 p.m. Senator Wyden spoke about the Scott nomination.

12:38 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the confirmation of Olivia Trusty nominated to be a Member of the FCC.

12:37 p.m. By a vote of 50-46 the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination Rodney Scott to be Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security was agreed to, party line.

  • Senators not voting: Hagerty, McCormick, Ossoff, and Risch.

11:58 a.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination Rodney Scott to be Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security.

11:40 a.m. Democrat Leader Schumer spoke about SCOTUS. He then spoke on the middle east, the republican tax bill and the nomination of Rodney Scott to be Commissioner of USCBP.

The Senate will convene at 11:00am. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of the nomination of Rodney Scott to be Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security. At approximately 12:00pm, the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  • Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Rodney Scott to be Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security.
  • Confirmation of the nomination of Olivia Trusty to be a Member of the Federal Communications Commission for a term of five years from July 1, 2025 (Reappointment).

At 1:45pm, if cloture is invoked, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the confirmation of the Scott nomination.
