  • The nomination of Harold D. Mooty III, of Alabama, to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.
  • Calendar #136, H.R. 4016, Making Appropriations for the Department of Defense for the Fiscal Year of 2026.

6:28 p.m. By a vote of 49-45, the Senate did not invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R.5371, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026 (House).

  • Senators Cortez Masto (D) and King (I) voted aye.
  • Republican Senator Paul voted no.
  • Senators Cassidy, Duckworth, Fetterman, Hagerty, McConnell, and Tillis did not vote.
  • Majority Leader Thune voted no in order to make a motion to reconsider.

5:30 p.m. The Senate is currently voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R.5371, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026 (House).

4:42 p.m. Senator Warren asked unanimous consent for the Senate to discharge and pass S. 2965, A bill to prohibit the use of the Exchange Stabilization Fund of the Department of the Treasury to bail out Argentina’s financial markets. Senator Scott (SC) objected. Senator Warren spoke on Argentina.

3:51 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke on ICE in Chicago and paid tribute to Sister Jean.

3:39 p.m. Minority Leader Schumer spoke on the return of Israeli hostages. He then spoke on the government shutdown, foreign assistance to Argentina, and Young Republican groups.

3:17 p.m. Senator Barrasso spoke on the government shutdown.

3:08 p.m. Majority Leader Thune spoke on the return of Israeli hostages.

3:03 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke on the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
