12:35 p.m. By a party-line vote of 48-45, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Anna St. John to be US District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Senators not voting Cotton, Graham, King, Lankford, Scott (SC), Smith, and Tillis did not vote.

11:33 a.m. The Senate began voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Anna St. John to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

11:30 p.m. Senator Ricketts spoke about Nebraska wildfires.

11:10 a.m. Senator Schumer spoke about the SAVE Act and also about Iran.

11:01 a.m. Senator Grassley spoke on the SAVE America Act.

10:38 a.m. Senator Barrasso spoke on the SAVE America Act.

10:16 a.m. Majority Leader Thune spoke on DHS funding.

10:03 a.m. Senator Grassley spoke on National Agriculture Week.

10:00 a.m. The Senate is now in session.

The Senate will convene at 10:00 a.m. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of the nomination of Anna St. John to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the St. John nomination. 

The Senate recess from 12:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. to allow for weekly caucus meetings.

If cloture is invoked on the St. John nomination, the Senate will vote on confirmation at approximately 2:15 p.m.

Following the confirmation vote Majority Leader Thune is expected to make a motion to lay before the Senate the House Message to accompany S.1383, Legislative Vehicle for SAVE Act.
