9:45 p.m. Majority Leader Thune wrapped up for the evening. Passed by UC: S Res 332 regarding Post Traumatic Stress awareness month. Passed by voice vote: H.R. 1815, regarding home loan defaults. UC that the Senate convene on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and resume consideration of H.R. 4, Rescissions Act of 2025. Further UC that all time be expired at 1:30 p.m.

9:44 p.m. By a vote of 51-50, the Senate adopted the motion to proceed to H.R. 4, Rescissions Act of 2025. Republican Senators voting against: Collins, McConnell and Murkowski. Vice President Vance broke the tie.

9:20 p.m. The Senate began voting on the motion to proceed to H.R. 4, Rescissions Act of 2025.

9:19 p.m. By a vote of 51-50, the Senate moved to discharge the Rescissions Act of 2025 from the Appropriations Committee. GOP Senators voting no: Collins, McConnell, and Murkowski. Vice President Vance broke the tie.

4:39 p.m. Senator Ernst spoke about USAID and the recissions bill.

2:54 p.m. By a party line vote of 52-46, the Senate confirmed the Tata nomination. Not voting: Duckworth and McCormick.

2:34 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on confirmation of Anthony J. Tata to be Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.

2:34 p.m. The Senate returned from recess.

12:55 p.m. The Senate now stands in recess subject to the call of the chair.

12:55 p.m. By a vote of 52-47, the Senate invoked cloture on Anthony Tata to be Under Secretary of the Department of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. The vote was party line with Senator McCormick not voting.

12:17 p.m. The Senate is currently voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Anthony J. Tata to be Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.

12:15 p.m. By a vote of 69-30, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Luke Pettit to be Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. Democrats voting in favor: Alsobrooks, Durbin, Fetterman, Gallego, Gillibrand, Hassan, Kelly, Kim, Klobuchar, Peters, Reed, Rosen, Schiff, Shaheen, Warner, Warnock and Whitehouse. Not voting: McCormick.

11:32 a.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the confirmation of the Pettit nomination.

11:30 a.m. Senator Hagerty spoke in favor of the nomination of Luke Pettit to be Assistant Secretary of the Treasury.

11:22 a.m. Senator Reed spoke against the nomination of Anthony J. Tata to be Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.

The Senate will convene at 10:00 a.m. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of nomination of Luke Pettit to be Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, post-cloture.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Senate will vote on the following :

  • Confirmation of the Pettit nomination. Following disposition of the Pettit nomination
  • Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Anthony J. Tata to be Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.

Following the vote on the motion to invoke cloture, the Senate will recess for the weekly conference meetings.

At 2:15 p.m., the Official Photo for the 119th Congress will take place.

Following the photo, the Senate will reconvene and vote on the following:

  • Confirmation of Anthony J. Tata to be Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.
  • Motion to invoke cloture on Joseph Edlow to be Director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security.

If cloture is invoked on the Edlow nomination, there will be up to 2 hours of debate prior to a vote on confirmation of the nomination.
