The Senate convened at 4:00 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., two roll call votes occurred:

By a vote of 97-3, the nomination of Dabney Friedrich to be US District Judge for the District of Columbia was confirmed. Senators Gillibrand, Sanders and Warren voted no.

By a vote of 52-48, cloture was invoked on the Katsas nomination, with Senator Manchin voting yes, and Senator Kennedy voting no.

At 6:40 p.m., Majority Leader McConnell wrapped up the Senate business for the evening, announcing that the Senate will return on Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Following any leader remarks, the Senate will then recess until 4:00 p.m. At 4:00 p.m., there be 90 minutes remaining on the Katsas nomination. Thus a vote on the nomination is expected at 5:30 p.m.
H.R. 1, to provide a reconciliation pursuant to titles 2 and 5 of the concurrent resolution of the budget for FY 2018 has its first reading.

The Senate adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
