5:00 p.m. ML McConnell announced the Senate will meet next at 11:00 Wednesday, May 6th. Following the prayer and pledge and any Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of the nomination of William Evanina, to be Director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center.

At 12:00 p.m. there will be a cloture vote on the Evanina nomination. If cloture is invoked, the vote on confirmation would occur at 2:00 p.m.

4:06 p.m. Senator Murkowski spoke on the impact of the pandemic as well as on violence against indigenous people.

3:07 p.m. Senator Barrasso spoke on the pandemic.

2:45 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke about the failures of the WHO during the pandemic.

2:40 p.m. Senator Blumenthal spoke on the need for oversight for the entire CARES package.

2:32 p.m. DL Schumer asked u.c. to call up and pass S. _ – requiring a report from the administrator of the SBA on small business recovery programs. Senator Rubio objected.

2:27 p.m. Senator Shaheen spoke about the paycheck protection program.

2:22 p.m. Senator Cardin spoke about the paycheck protection program.

2:18 p.m. The Senate reconvened from recess. DL Schumer spoke on the paycheck protection program and the need for oversight.

12:18 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 2:15 p.m.

11:50 a.m. Senator Thune spoke about the coronavirus and on pending Senate business.

11:30 a.m. Senator Durbin spoke on the coronavirus.
