2:40 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 3:00 p.m. Monday July 14, 2025. Following Leadership Remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the nomination of Whitney Hermandorfer to be a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit, post cloture.

At 5:30 p.m. the Senate is expected to have two roll call votes:

  1. Confirmation of Whitney D. Hermandorfer to be United States Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on Luke Pettit to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury.

  • Cloture was filed on the following nominations
    • Luke Pettit, of the District of Columbia, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury.
    • Anthony Tata, of Florida, to be Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.
    • Joseph Edlow, of Maryland, to be Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security
  • Agreed to by unanimous consent
    • H. R. 517 – Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act
    • H. Res. 315 – Expressing support for the designation of July 10, 2025, as journeyman line workers recognition day.
    • S. Res. 319 – Recognizing and Celebrating 100 years of Quantum Mechanics.

2:17 p.m. Senator Murray spoke about the tax bill and public radio.

2:14 p.m. By a vote of 50-45, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Jonathan Gould to be Comptroller of the Currency.

1:30 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on confirmation of Jonathan Gould to be Comptroller of the Currency.

115 p.m. Senator Hickenlooper paid tribute to John Stalt.

1:05 p.m. Senator Rosen spoke on the tax bill and the Full House Act.

12:51 p.m. Senator Cortez Masto spoke about the gambling industry in Las Vegas and the tax bill. She then asked for unanimous consent for the Senate to pass S. 2230, Facilitating Useful Loss Limitations to Help Our Unique Service Economy (FULL HOUSE) Act. Senator Young then asked for unanimous consent to modify Senator Cortez Masto request to include his amendment to S. 2230. Senator Wyden spoke against Senator Youngs request and objected to his modification request. Senator Young then objected to the unanimous consent original request.

12:37 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about the flooding in Central Texas.

12:26 p.m. Senator Welch spoke about FEMA.

12:25 p.m. By a vote of 51-43 the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Whitney Hermandorfer to be a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit. Senators Blumenthal, Duckworth, Graham, Hickenlooper, Murphy and Tillis did not vote.

11:44 a.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Whitney Hermandorfer to be a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

11:43 a.m. By a vote of 50-45, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Jonathan Gould to be Comptroller of the Currency. Senator Lummis voted no. Senators not voting: Blumenthal, Duckworth, Graham, Murphy, and Tillis.

11:00 a.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Jonathan Gould to be Comptroller of the Currency.

10:54 a.m. Senator Hagerty spoke in favor of the Hermandorfer nomination.

10:37 a.m. Senator Barrasso spoke on Planned Parenthood and judge nominations.

10:20 a.m. Democratic Leader Schumer spoke on the Hermandorfer nomination.

10:13 a.m. Majority Leader Thune spoke on President Trump’s nominations.

10:03 a.m. Senator Grassley spoke on the 1995 Bosnian Genocide. He then spoke in favor of the nomination of Whitney Hermandorfer to be a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

10:00 a.m. The Senate is now in session.

The Senate will convene at 10:00 a.m. and following any leader remarks will resume consideration of the nomination of Jonathan Gould to be Comptroller of the Currency.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. the Senate will proceed to two votes:
1. Cloture on the Gould nomination.
2. Cloture on the nomination of Whitney Hermandorfer to be a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

If cloture is invoked on the Hermandorfer nomination the Senate will vote on confirmation on Monday July 14th.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., if cloture is invoked, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Gould nomination.
