9:52 p.m. The Senate adjourned and will next convene at 12 noon on Sunday, August 1. The Senate will resume consideration of H.R. 3684, the legislative vehicle for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs bill.

The final legislative text for H.R. 3684 is expected tomorrow.

Majority Leader Schumer reminded everyone that on completion of the infrastructure bill, the Senate will turn to the budget resolution with reconciliation instructions.

5:18 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on the floor to speak on the bipartisan infrastructure legislation and say that the legislative counsel continues to work on the text and when finalized, he will return to the Senate floor to take up that legislation and begin the amendment process.

The Senate then again adjourned subject to the call of the chair.

2:42 p.m. The Senate has recessed subject to the call of the chair.

2:25 p.m. Senator Warner spoke on infrastructure.

12:12 p.m. Senator Warren spoke on the eviction moratorium.

11:20 a.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on the bipartisan infrastructure legislation.

7:11 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday under the provisions of S.Res.333 as a further mark of respect for the late Carl M. Levin, former Senator for the State of Michigan.

2:59 p.m. The Senate began voting on confirmation of Ur Mendoza Jaddou to be Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

2:50 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke supporting the Jaddou nomination.

1:06 p.m. The Senate is voting on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #232 Ur Mendoza Jaddou to be Director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security.

1:05 p.m. The Senate agreed to, 66-28: Motion to proceed to Cal. #100, H.R.3684, the legislative vehicle for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

16 Republicans voted yes: Senators Blunt, Burr, Capito, Cassidy, Collins, Cramer, Crapo, Graham, Grassley, Hoeven, McConnell, Murkowski, Portman, Romney, Tillis & Young.

11:10 a.m. Senator Durbin paid tribute to Senator Levin and later on immigration.

10:51 a.m. Majority Leader Schumer paid tribute to Senator Levin, and later spoke on the infrastructure bill and the Jaddou nomination.

10:35 a.m. Senator Leahy paid tribute to former Senator Levin on his passing.

At 11:30 a.m., the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes:

  • Motion to proceed to H.R.3684.
  • cloture on the nomination of Ur Mendoza Jaddou to be Director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

If cloture is invoked on the Jaddou nomination, there will be up to 2 hours of debate, followed by a vote on confirmation of the Jaddou nomination.
