6:34 p.m. The Senate adjourned and will reconvene at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 16. They will resume consideration of the Quattlebaum nomination with vote on confirmation to occur at 10:30 a.m. A vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Richardson nomination will occur immediately following that vote.

During wrap up the Senate passed the House amended S. 717-pro bono legal services for victims of domestic violence.

5:19 p.m. Senator Brown spoke about free press.

4:57 p.m. Senator Blunt spoke about defense appropriations.

4:55 p.m. Senator Blunt announced that following the disposition of the Richardson nomination the Senate will proceed to H.R. 6157 [Defense-Labor-HHS-Education appropriations minibus].

4:32 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke about the Kavanaugh nomination.

4:12 p.m. ML McConnell spoke about the Senate’s agenda for August.

3:46 p.m. Senator Portman spoke about the opioid crisis.

3:07 p.m. Senator Nelson spoke about drilling off Tampa Bay and steel tariffs.

2:48 p.m. Senator Barasso spoke on the Endangered Species Act.

2:15 p.m. The Senate returned from recess.

12:36 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 2:15 p.m.

12:19 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke on a young man kidnapped in Syria six years ago today; and the Kavanaugh nomination.

12:00 p.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 12:00 p.m. and resume consideration of the nomination of Marvin Quattlebaum to be a US Circuit Judge for the Fourth Circuit.

Following resumption of the Quattlebaum nomination, the Senate will recess until 2:15 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Quattlebaum nomination.

Majority Leader McConnell has also filed cloture on the nomination of Julius Richardson to be a US Circuit Judge for the Fourth Circuit.  The cloture vote with respect to the Richardson nomination will occur immediately following disposition of the Quattlebaum nomination. Both are subject to up to thirty hours of post-cloture debate.

Following disposition of the above nominations, the Senate is expected to consider H.R. 6157 [Defense-Labor-HHS-Education appropriations minibus].
