• Following morning business, the Senate will resume consideration of H.J.Res. 61 [the legislative vehicle for a Congressional resolution of disapproval relative to the JCPOA/Iran Nuclear Agreement].
• The Senate will recess from 12:30pm until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus luncheons.
• During Tuesday’s session, Senator McConnell tabled the amendment tree relative to H.J.Res. 61 and offered a new substantive first degree amendment to the pending substitute [McConnell amendment to prohibit the President from waiving, suspending, reducing, providing relief from, or otherwise limiting the application of sanctions pursuant to an agreement related to the nuclear program of Iran (#2656)]. He then re-filled the amendment tree and filed cloture on McConnell amendment #2656, McConnell substitute amendment #2640, and the underlying joint resolution.
o As a result, absent a time agreement, a cloture vote on McConnell amendment #2656 will occur one hour after the Senate convenes on Thursday, September 17, 2015. If cloture is not invoked, there would be an immediate cloture vote on McConnell substitute amendment #2640. If cloture is not invoked on the substitute amendment, there would be an immediate cloture vote on H.J.Res.61.
