5:52 p.m. Senate stands adjourned until 10:00 am on Friday, July 31st for a pro forma session.  The Senate will then convene at 2:00 p.m on Monday, August 3rd. The next vote will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 3rd on the cloture motion on the motion to proceed to S. 1881, the planned parenthood defunding bill.

In wrap up the Senate passed S. 1172, a bill to improve the process of presidential transition.

4:48 p.m. Senator Stabenow and Senator Hirono spoke against defunding Planned Parenthood.

4:36 p.m. Senator Udall spoke about the Iran Nuclear Deal.

4:21 p.m. Senator Portman spoke about the Drinking Water Protection Act. He tried to have the bill passed by unanimous consent. Udall objected.

3:49 p.m. Senator Stabenow, Senator Casey and Senator Kaine spoke about the anniversary of Medicare.

3:27 p.m. Senator Wyden spoke about the anniversary of Medicare.

3:11 p.m. Senator Collins and Senator Coons spoke about the Reach Every Mother and Child Act of 2015.

2:50 p.m. Senator Sullivan spoke on the Iran deal.

2:13 p.m. Senator Hatch spoke on the 50th anniversary of Medicare.

2:12 p.m. By a vote of 91-4, HR 3236 was adopted.   Senators Corker, Lee, Sasse, and Sessions voted no.  Senators Graham, Moran, Schatz, and Vitter did not vote.

1:46 p.m. Roll call vote began on HR 3236, 3 month House passed highway bill.

1:44 p.m. Senator Blumenthal spoke on veterans funding.

1:17 p.m. Senator Tillis spoke on trade.

1:03 p.m. Senator Scott spoke on body cameras for police.

12:39 p.m. Senators Inhofe and Boxer thank their staffs for the work on the highway bill.

12:36 p.m. Majority Leader McConnell filed cloture on the motion to proceed to the Planned Parenthood bill.

12:35 p.m. By a vote of 65-34, HR 22, the vehicle for the highway bill was adopted.

12:01 p.m. Roll call vote began on HR 22, the vehicle for the highway bill.

11:55 a.m. Senators Inhofe and Boxer spoke on the Senate highway bill before the vote on passage.

11:37 a.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about the highway bill and Planned Parenthood.

11:30 a.m. Senator Gillibrand spoke against defunding Planned Parenthood.

11:10 a.m. Senator Inhofe spoke about the long term highway bill.

10:56 a.m. Senator Heller spoke about the highway bill.

10:04 a.m. By a voice vote, the Senate passed S. Res. 236, to recognize National Whistleblower’s Appreciation Day. Majority Leader McConnell spoke about the highway bill and the Iran nuclear deal.

 The Senate will convene at 10 a.m. Thursday.

At noon, the Senate will vote on passage of on H.R. 22, the 6-year highway bill.

At 1:45 p.m., the Senate will vote on the 3-month extension that passed the House Wednesday, H.R. 3236. (Sixty votes will be required for passage of the 3-month bill.)
