8:06 p.m. The Senate adjourned and will reconvene at 9:00 AM on Friday, July 24 when they will vote on the motion to proceed to H.R. 22, the vehicle for the highway bill. During wrap-up the Senate passed the following bills by voice vote:
- H.R. 23-National windstorm impact reduction program
- H.R. 2499-Amend the small business act to help Veteran entrepreneurs
- H.R. 1626-Reduce duplication of technology at Homeland Security.
- S.Res. 229-Designating July 26 as US Intelligence professionals day
6:55 p.m. Majority Leader McConnell said the vote on H.R. 22, the vehicle for the highway bill, will occur at 9 a.m. Friday. There will be no votes tonight.
4:12 p.m. Senator Perdue spoke about the Iran Nuclear agreement.
3:55 p.m. Senator Blumenthal spoke about the transportation bill.
3:43 p.m. Senator Hoeven spoke on the Country-of-Origin Labeling and Trade Enhancement Act of 2015.
3:35 p.m. Senator Franken spoke on minimum wage increases.
3:15 p.m Senators Capito and Portman spoke about the highway bill.
3:04 p.m. Senator Roberts spoke about the amendment he has filed on tariffs.
2:52 p.m. Senator Markey spoke about the Equality Act he has introduced, which relates to LGBT rights.
2:40 p.m. Senator Wicker spoke about the Feinstein-Wicker amendment related to twin 33s — tractor-trailer trucks that haul two 33-foot trailers.
2:24 p.m. Senator Leahy spoke about the highway bill.
12:32 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 2:15 p.m.
11:58 a.m. Senator Coats returned to speak about debts and deficits.
11:35 a.m. Senator Fisher spoke about the highway bill.
11:14 a.m. Senator Inhofe spoke about the highway bill.
10:57 a.m. Senator Coats spoke on waste fraud and abuse in the government.
10:31 a.m. Senator Inhofe spoke about the highway bill.
10:23 a.m. Senator Stabenow spoke about the highway bill.
9:35 a.m. Democratic Leader Reid spoke about veterans issues.
9:32 a.m. Majority Leader McConnell spoke on the highway bill and on Iran.
