The Senate has adjourned until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, when it will resume consideration of the unemployment benefits bill until 11 a.m.
There will then be a vote on whether to invoke cloture on the Reed amendment (#2714) to the unemployment benefits bill. The amendment provides for a three-month extension of the program.
If cloture is invoked on the Reed amendment, there will be up to thirty hours of post-cloture debate prior to a roll call vote on adoption of the amendment.
If cloture is not invoked on Reed amendment, the Senate will immediately proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the underlying unemployment bill.
The Senate also expects on Thursday to consider Senator Baucus’s nomination to be ambassador to China.
There will be up to one hour of debate, followed by a confirmation vote.
