4:50 p.m. Senators Hatch and Inhofe spoke about defense issues. Senator Inhofe focused on the authorization for the use of military force (AUMF). Senator Hatch spoke about the confirmation of Ashton Carter as Secretatry of Defense and Senator Ayotte’s bill.
4:40 p.m. Senator Murphy spoke about gun violence.
4:27 p.m. Senator Schatz spoke about carbon pollution.
4:12 p.m. Senator Nelson spoke about the planned launch of a new satellite.
4:05 p.m. Senator Markey spoke on the Botticelli nomination.
3:34 p.m. ML McConnell spoke on the Botticelli nomination before turning to a colloquy with Senators Alexander and Enzi on the National Labor Relations Board.
3:18 p.m. Senator Sessions spoke on the Homeland Security Appropriations and immigration.

The Senate convened at 3:00 p.m. Senator Cornyn offered a motion to proceed to HR 240. S. 405., a bill regarding hunting, fishing, and shooting has its first reading.
At 5 p.m., the Senate will begin consideration of the nomination of Michael P. Botticelli to be director of National Drug Control Policy.
At 5:30 p.m., there will be a roll call vote on confirmation of Botticelli’s nomination.
Note: Pending before the Senate is the motion to proceed to H.R. 240, the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill.
