TUESDAY, MARCH 11, 2014

The Senate adjourned at 6:14 p.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12.

At about 6:08 PM the Senate confirmed by voice vote, en bloc, seven military officers to general and flag grades. The Senate then confirmed by voice vote the reappointment of John W. McCarter to the Smithsonian Institution’s Board of Regents. The Senate then agreed by voice vote to S.Res. 378, condemning Russian actions in Ukraine.

Between 11:32 AM and 12:52 PM, the Senate invoked cloture on these nominations to the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan:

— Matthew Leitman  (vote of 55 to 43)

— Judith Levy (56 to 42)

— Laurie Michelson (56 to 43)

— Linda Parker (56 to 42)

10:06 AM The Senate agreed on a voice vote to H.R. 2019, a bill to finance pediatric medical research for 10 years by eliminating taxpayer subsidies for the national political conventions.

9:00 AM The Senate began a new legislative day. At 11:30 AM the Senate will have cloture votes on the nominations of Leakman, Levy, Miichelson and Parker. Following votes, Senate will recess until 2:15 PM for weekly lunches.

8:54 AM The Senate adjourned until 9:00 AM Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

The Senate continues an extended debate on climate change.  Senate is expected to stay in session throughout the evening until 8:45 AM on this topic.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 2014

Senate Convened at 11:45 to begin the 2nd Session of the 113th Congress.  The Senate adjourned at noon to reconvene on Monday, January 6th at 2pm.  Senator Reid was in the chair.

Senate will vote on the Nomination of Janet Yellen, to be Chair of Federal Reserve at 5:30 pm.

DECEMBER 15, 2013

12:30 PM

The Senate will convene at 1 pm for legislative business.

1:30 PM

Sen. Reid Filed cloture  and filled the amendment tree for HJ Res 59 – Budget Act and HR 3304 – DoD Authorization.  Senate will reconvene on Monday, December 16 at 3:00 PM.

Next vote will occur at 5:30 PM on confirmation for the nomination of Anne W. Patterson to be an Assistant Secretary of State (Near Eastern Affairs).

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2013

8:30 am

The Senate continued the legislative day that began at 2pm on December 11th. The Senate confirmed the nomination of  Deborah Lee James to be Secretary of the Air Force by a vote of 79-6. They immediately took up the Motion to Invoke Cloture on Heather Anne Higginbottom to be Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources. The Motion to Invoke Cloture was agreed to by a vote of 51-34.  The Senate is currently considering the Higginbottom nomination and is expected to vote on this nomination around 12:00pm.

Following disposition of the Higginbottom nomination, the Senate will proceed to the consideration of Anne W. Patterson to be an Assistant Secretary of State (Near Eastern Affairs), with a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2013

10:00 AM

The Senate continued the legislative day that began at 2pm on December 11th.  Senate has confirmed the nominations of Cornelia Pillard, to be DC Circuit Judge by a vote of 51-44  and Chai Feldblum, to be member of EEOC by a vote of 55- 41.
The Senate is currently considering the nomination of Elizabeth Wolford to be US District Judge, Western NY.
Vote on the Wolford nomination is expected at approximately 11 am.  Further votes are expected throughout the day.

12:00 PM

Wolford was confirmed by a vote of 70 – 29. The Senate is now considering the nomination of Landya McCafferty, NH, to be US District Judge of NH.  Vote expected at approx 12:45.  The Senate paused at Noon for prayer and began a new calendar day (but same legislative day).

1:30 PM

McCafferty was confirmed by a vote of 79 – 19.   The Senate invoked cloture for Patricia M Wald, to be Member of Privacy and Civil Liberties Board by a vote of 57 – 41.  Next vote expected (on Wald nomination) at approximately 5:30.

Wald was confirmed by a vote of 57-41.  Cloture was invoked on Brian Morris, MT, to be US District Judge, MT 57 – 40. Next Vote expected on Morris Nomination at 7:30.

8:45

Morris was confirmed by a vote of 75-20. Cloture was invoked on the Susan P. Watters, MT, to be US District Judge by a vote of 58-39.  Vote on this nomination followed by a cloture vote on Deborah Lee James, Va, to be Secy Air Force, is expected at 9:15.  (Confirmation vote on James is expected to occur at 6 AM Friday Morning).
